It tries to upload for about 20-30 seconds then I get a HTTP500 error message.
Not sure why it uploads sometimes and other times gets the error message.

  it’s a bit different than the front end uploader, but that thing is ending up being a piece of trash.

  The front end uploader tried to be smart about creating a post for you, but if you’d like to create the whole post yourself, here’s how to do it:

  Enter a post title
  Drag and drop some images into the content area OR click on “add media”. Once it’s uploaded, hit “insert” so it’s added to the content of the post you’re creating.
  Put in some words Does your image have text on it? Put the words here.
  Add some tags, if it’s NSFW, that’s fine, just add the NSFW tag as normal
  Finally, click on ‘Publish’.

  There’s a few other options in there, but they don’t do much for you. Just be sure to insert the images into the post or else the whole thing will be for naught, lol.

  Actually, I may make it just automatically show the gallery, not sure how soon I would be able to do that.
